Bit Digital (NASDAQ:BTBT) reported second-quarter revenue of $32.1 million on August 13, marking a 15 percent increase from the previous quarter. The company also narrowed its net loss to $107.2 million, an improvement from the $146.7 million loss recorded in the prior period.
While those figures drew attention, a quieter detail in the earnings release revealed a different strategy at work. Bit Digital chose to finance WhiteFiber's newest data center by leveraging its Ethereum holdings, turning its cryptocurrency stash into a source of lending capital rather than simply holding it as an asset.
The approach signals a shift in how the company views its digital asset reserves. Instead of treating Ethereum purely as a long-term investment, Bit Digital is putting those tokens to work as collateral or lending instruments to support infrastructure expansion.
That decision could carry weight for investors watching how crypto-focused firms manage balance sheets in a volatile market. Using Ethereum for financing purposes offers flexibility, but it also introduces risk if token prices swing sharply.
For now, the move positions Bit Digital as a company willing to experiment with its treasury strategy while pushing forward with data center growth.
